Because of Romek- Post #2
1. David's pigeon saves the whole family's lives! The one pigeon brings several pigeons to the Faber's house for wheat to eat and when they didn't come back, their mother knew that something had to be wrong. Following her instinct, the family hid and were not killed by the Germans that came that day to kill them!
2. At the Pustkow Vacation Camp, David was forced to work for the Germans. He was given an axe and was told to cut trees for the Germans. The camp was bad for him because it was non-stop work for the people in it. I think the Germans called it a vacation camp so that the captured people might be fooled and not try to escape while entering. That's really silly, but I guess every little thing was a help.
3. Questions for David Faber:
- What was the most difficult time during the Holocaust for you?
- Do you think everything that happened to you (good and bad) happened for a reason?
