Independant Reading Week 4

Note: In the review, I spoil the book, so if you want to read the book for yourself, you might not want to read this...

Review: Again, I'm reading this book called So B. It. This week, I was reading about how Heidi, the daughter of a mentally challenged mother and the neighbour of someone with agoraphobia (when your afraid to leave your house and you can't go outside), goes to Liberty, New York. There, she hopes to find an unknown word that her mother says, her grandmother, and some explanation on who she is. When she gets to Liberty (which by the way, she has to take several buses and meet several different people), she wins a free taxi trip and goes to the Hilton, the place she thinks is where old pictures she found in the back of her closet were taken. When she gets there, she meets Ruby, Roy, Mr. Hill, and Elliot. Ruby and Roy end up taking Heidi to their house for a place to stay, and helping her more than ever. Heidi manages to find out that 1- her mother's real name is Sophia Lynn DeMuth 2- her father is Elliot Hill (also a mentally challenged person) 3- her grandmother, Diane DeMuth, dies 12 years ago in a bus accident, and finally, 4- her grandfather is Mr. Hill. Soon after, Heidi finds out that her mother's terrible headaches were probably more than just headaches. One morning, Bernadette called Heidi saying that her mother had died in her sleep that last night. They planned a service, and all, but I guess nothing would ever be the same. After Heidi had somewhat moved on from the death, she turned over a new leaf. She was happier, and more joyful, she had expeirienced more, she had enrolled in a junior high (she was homeschooled all her life) and she had visited Ruby and Roy in Liberty a few times.
This book made me feel so SAD at the end. I was really, really, really, REALLY, shocked that she author decided to have the mother die. It was so unexpected and unusual that it made it a really good book. I think I would recommend this to people who like faster-moving books, like me. I won't read a slow book, so this was a good one for me.
