Family History Project Reflection

FHP Reflection
Purpose:
The purpose of this project was to learn about our family's history. What and who you came from. It was to think about everything that people came through and went through. In order to learn this, we had to create either a scrapbook or a newsletter explaining what event your family member went through and how it was a significant event in history. I did the Vietnam War because my grandma and grandpa avoided being drafted into the war by meeting the standards. We had to make a memoir of your family, a newspaper article about the event, have pictures of your family, an interview on someone who eye witnessed the event, and a few other things.
What I Learned:
During this project, I learned a lot about the Vietnam War. I learned how many men died and how may men were forced to kill other men for their own protection. It was a horrible war and so many young men died. I learned about how young these men were that died, some of the men weren't even 20, and they still had to go and kill and bomb other people. I also learned about my grandma and what she went through personally. Some of the skills that I learned were how to be a historian. Like, for example, finding information about the Vietnam War, using different cites to find out a lot of things that a lot of people might have not known or overlooked. some other skills I learned how to do were making a scrapbook. I had little time to make a really extravagant scrapbook explaining a history of your family.
Reflection:
I liked this project because we got to learn a lot about our family members and what they went through. I enjoyed this project because it really got you into learning more. I mean everyone sort of wanted to find out more information about the wars (because boys like wars :) and to learn about your ancestors (because girls are like that ;). Some of the reasons that I didn't love this project is because I really felt confused to what was due and what needed to go into the scrapbook and what didn't need to and what was a rough draft and when this was due and when that was due. It bugged e for a little bit, but then I got over it. Next time, I think I would spend more time on the interveiw because I think that it could've been a lot better. Overall, this project has been a great experience and I learned a ton about my family history.
